Che & Fidel

Not so long ago I was approached by the lovely Jodi from the Che & Fidel blog regarding an upcoming shoot on the Apple Isle!

Jodi was heading to the little town of Cygnet with Photographer Luisa Brimble to review the wonderful concept that is A Common Ground.  Anywhoooo, we both agreed that a pair of Bergies would be the perfect accessory for the tiny feet appearing in the shoot and the end result is documented below.

That's Jodi with little her daughter Poet in her arms and young Che is sporting the navy Bergies. Thanks for sharing these beautiful shots with us Jodi.  This type of editorial is right up our alley!

Please do check out Jodi's fabulous blog, it's full of all sorts of goodness...

My friend Maia....

Yet again I've stumbled across something that stopped me in my tracks and I was immediately compelled to share it. This short film by Julia Warr is simply mesmerising, her sensitivity to the subject is almost flawless and the music...well, it's just perfect.

Enjoy 'My friend Maia'...it took my breath away.

A short introduction from the Director:

Shot in Fire Island, New York, this film (4min. 23 sec) captures the secrets of eternal youth as Maia Helles, a Russian ballet dancer turns 95 but still remains resolutely independent, healthy and as fit as a forty year old. Made by Julia Warr, artist and film maker met Maia on a plane 4 years ago and became utterly convinced by the benefits of her daily exercise routine, which Maia perfected, together with her Mother, over 60 years ago, long before exercise classes were ever invented. Fawn & Fox takes a leap!

For the last six months I've been busily working on re-launching Fawn & Fox with a collection of carefully selected products for you and your home.  The criteria for my selection has been unique, timeless design that you won't find easily elsewhere, items that make you look good but more importantly make you feel good.

Until now we've had great success with our kids products, but it was time to mix it up and introduce some newbies.  While we were at it, we've updated the website design - we hope you approve!

So, after many long nights I can proudly say the new website has launched!  Here's a handful of pics to whet your appetite....let me know what you think???

Handsome Coffee

Handsome Coffee has been producing artisan coffee for almost a year now, but just this week they opened their combination cafe and roasting facility in downtown Los Angeles.

The gentlemanly trio that is Handsome Coffee have a fresh outlook for their new venture with a mantra that reads "We're not making coffee for everyone, we're making coffee for you.  For those who value craftmanship and quality over convenience and cost - we're your huckleberry."  Now, I have no idea what it might mean to be somebody's huckleberry, but I must say, I do like the sound of it!

They've teamed up with Woodsmithe a visionary design company to finesse and develop their ideas and this short doco of their journey is truly inspiring.  I love their take no prisoners approach, the attention to  fine detail and last but not least the pure commitment to their passion.  Simple really, isn't it?

Elephant Ceramics

I recently discovered Elephant Ceramics and I'm completely smitten!

Michele Michael is based in Brooklyn where she designs and creates porcelain and stoneware ceramics by hand.  Working with linen and clay, each piece she creates has it's own unique organic shape.  Inspired by the sea, near her part-time home in Maine, her colour palette is simply dreamy.

Ohhhh to own just one....

Whitepod Hotel

Now, I'm the first to admit that I'm not too keen on sub zero temperatures.  However, I think I'd be willing to put all that aside for a night at Whitepod Hotel.

Nestled in the Swiss Alps, Whitepod takes "camping" to a whole new level.  With 15 domed igloo inspired pods surrounded by 7km's of ski slopes and 3 private ski lifts, this is one for the bucket list folks.

Take me (and my hot water bottle) there ASAP....

The only way is up....

Hi all,

I'd love my first post for 2012 to be an upbeat, feel good message, but sadly our Christmas break was horribly sad.  We lost not one, but two cherished family members and as a result we're all feeling a little jaded (to say the least).

As we all know, life must march on and from where I'm standing, the only way is up. Let's hope it looks and feels something like this...
